Poem: Blessed – Spoken Word and Text – 13/07/20

    Audio: Blessed
    I am blessed here,
in a home so warm and loving,
    no matter if it’s empty,
    aside from myself,
I can feel the love lingering,
    it is forthcoming.

    It reaches,
grabs hold like little hungry fingers
    would reach for a
    snack or chocky milk,
    enveloping around me,
    arms tight and strong
    and true,
    like a relationship that
    may not fall apart
because the path there was willingly learned,
to be calm and respectful, too.

    I am quiet here,
though my fingers tap and compose,
    I am strong here,
I don’t need the scent of mature, picked lilies or daffodils,
    a single beautiful rose.

    I’ve suffered in silence,
and I’ve been subjected to much,
but I won’t allow rigid experiences to permeate any further,
I’ve been in a dither, I’ve been bothered,
    and honestly now I am
    blessed in this house,
    upon all hours.

    Poem: Home – 04/06/20

I feel most at home here,
    within these welcoming walls,
but a house is only a house
until we make it a home.

    What makes mine one?
    Let me share with you,
what luck I’ve been blessed with,
    what good fortune, too.

It has nothing to do with
    the furnishings,
    nothing to do with
    material possessions,

    naught to do with
    items which bring comfort,
    it has everything to do
    with the love within.

    I live with those
    who I am close with,
    their kind words,
    warming hugs,
our family unit is a world of our own,
    consideration and open hearts.

    Those who listen,
    share their wisdom,
    I share my happiness,
    my joy with them all,

    the times when we were
    all under strain
    is long gone,
why, we’ve practically forgotten that pain.

    Instead we are together,
in every sense of the word,
    living as one,
a stronger family we have become.

    With my growing maturity,
I can be my best to them,
    kind, loving and caring,
    when upset or in pain,
    I can attend to them.

I now listen to their words,
    respectful in the home,
our house not just a house,
but somewhere we can rest quietly,
    together or alone.

I am grateful for this world,
    this space,
    where I can be myself,
    thank you to my family,
    for making this my home.

Poem: A Home Away From Home – 30/11/19

     A home away from home,
where we can dare to dream,
    we carry our luggage,
    our memories with us,
    a plethora of experiences.

A building in which we house
    our deepest darkest scenes,
    and lightness in all mannerisms,
and some things perfectly in between.

    With our eyes peering curiously,
and smiles widening on our faces all the while,
we can scan through our tales and winding spells
in a style of carefulness or happiness which abounds.

Because when quietly recalling our memories,
with friends or family, or even just little old me,
we can feel joyous and buoyant
    and so self-assured
    that everything is effervescent
    in all their scenes.

    We can relive,
    we can feel,
    we can dance inside,
    abound in delight all day,
    because these memories we have
    catalogued and stored
    in our house of homes
are where we enlist our hearts
as our emphatic and empathic zones always.
